Summary:

The Statistician and Data Analyst will perform and interpret a range of complex statistical analyses in order to prepare or collaborate in the preparation of technical evaluation and research reports for projects and programs assigned to his/her Research and Evaluation Project Team. The Statistician and Data Analyst will promote the Evaluation & Assessment Center's mission by providing timely and accurate technical services, maintaining superior client relations, and working collaboratively with his/her Project Team.

Duties

Statistician & Data Analyst to develop and maintain multiple, large data bases; oversee quantitative data collection and processing for Project Team projects; assist Project Team in the development of research/evaluation designs; create and maintain online survey instruments using Qualtrics, or similar platforms; conduct advanced parametric and non-parametric statistical analyses, e.g., univariate and multivariate statistical analyses, and Item Response Theory modeling (Rasch Model); utilize analytical, mathematics, statistics, and modeling techniques to interpret data, identify trends/patterns, and create statistical models using historical data and modeling software; execute project quantitative data analysis plans and make recommendations to Sr. Research Associate and Project Manager for improvement; provide accurate and appropriate interpretation of data, applying knowledge of relevant research literature to the interpretation of analysis results; recognize and self-correct when data sets, statistical outputs, and/or findings are inaccurate or misrepresented; develop multiple types of data visualizations to communicate technical information in non-technical ways, through tables, charts, graphs, and other representations; summarize analysis results in written format (interim, technical and annual reports, conference presentations) for varied audiences, e.g., lay and professional; develop and produce aggregated and dashboard reports using MS SQL, MS Access or/and MS Excel; create technical design documentation, including current and future functionality, database specifications, data mappings and diagrams to detail proposed implementation; contribute to scholarly papers, presentations, and other professional documents; represent the Center with clients and advisory groups on the state and national levels; other duties as assigned and related to Center's evaluation and research activities. 

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in statistics, data analytics, engineering, educational psychology, science, mathematics, or closely related field; at least 2 years of experience with standard quantitative and qualitative research methods; at least 2 years of experience in analytics/data analysis; at least 2 years of work experience in the use and application of statistical computer software packages, including SPSS, SAS, and/or R; at least 1 year of work experience in quantitative statistical analyses (t-test, ANOVA, regression, factor analysis, GLM, Chi-square, etc.), survey sampling, and research/experimental design; at least 1 year of experience managing large data sets using data management systems and spreadsheets (i.e., ACCESS, FileMaker, or Excel); at least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.  Experience may be accrued concurrent with advanced degree-seeking activities.  Knowledge of educational research, preferably mathematics and science education; experience writing interim, technical and annual reports, and other professional documents; experience explaining complex statistical ideas to colleagues and clients using non-technical language when appropriate; ability to work independently and collaboratively on an evaluation/research team; ability to handle multiple tasks and complicated detail work accurately and efficiently in the face of changing priorities and tight timelines. Desire:  Graduate degree in statistics, data analytics, engineering, educational psychology, educational leadership, or related field; experience with complex statistical modeling, i.e., HLM and/or SEM; experience with Winsteps or other software for Rasch Modeling or Item Response Theory modeling; experience generating and automating reports and dashboards in MS Excel, writing code and creating macros; experience independently producing professional writings; experience working with US school data and large databases; experience working in a research group, focused on evaluation of teaching and learning; flexibility for travel to meet with clients, advisory groups, and to present at national conferences.
