Position

We are seeking an individual to join our dynamic team as a full-time Research Associate whose primary responsibilities will focus on readying surveys for dissemination, quantitative and qualitative data analyses, managing databases, and creating charts and other infographics of evaluation findings (working with “small” and “medium” data).

The Rucks Group is a growing research and evaluation firm located in Southwest (Dayton) Ohio. Formed in 2008, we are a nationally recognized organization whose research and thoughtful analysis influences decision-making in higher education, and our mission is to provide services that maximize the return of resources invested in initiatives for grant recipients and funding sources. We are a group of smart, dedicated professionals who are passionate about effectively gathering data to tell the story of our clients, while enjoying the camaraderie of other team members. Our projects revolve around STEM, workforce development, K16 Education, and foundation funding. Our clients are primarily in the mid-western and southern regions of the country; therefore, the position may require periodic travel to those regions as federal and state health guidelines permit.

Functions

Job responsibilities will include the following: 

  • Conduct final preparation and testing for the administration web-based surveys (e.g, Qualtrics and SurveyMonkey).
  • Finalize the design of paper-based surveys.
  • Develop and manage the survey administration and distribution process.
  • Build and manage databases for various projects (working with “small” and “medium” data).
  • Identify, manage, and share data coding and management best practices.
  • Complete descriptive quantitative and qualitative analyses with minimal supervision.
  • Create infographics using existing and creating new templates.
  • Develop new data visualization and reporting designs/templates.
  • Develop data reports based on existing templates.
  • Write results reports using existing templates.
  • Conduct literature searches.

Candidate

The successful candidate should have knowledge of general research and evaluation principles and possess experience in:

  • Applying social science methodologies
  • Preparing data in Excel and/or a data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA, nVivo, and/or R) for analyses
  • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data with computer data analysis software
  • Communicating findings in written formats
  • Working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Interacting with colleagues by utilizing strong interpersonal skills
  • Meeting established deadlines for deliverables

Requirements

Minimally the successful candidate will have earned a bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience. A master’s degree in applied social science, evaluation, psychology, statistics, or another related field is preferred.
