Hours: Dependent on consultant. Budgeted at $30k.

Time period: February – July 31, 2022

Description of position: The purpose of this request for funding proposal (RFP) is to recruit consultants who will create an evaluation plan and evaluation tools for the revised Applied Epidemiology Competencies (AECs). This project will include engaging with CSTE national office staff and drafting evaluation measures for achievement of the revised AECs by applied epidemiologists. The evaluation plan will measure individual knowledge, skills and abilities and the evaluation tool will facilitate this assessment in the field with state and local health departments.  The evaluation plan will be utilized to assess whether staff have achieved the goals of an epidemiologist outlined in the AECs. The consultant will also assist in validating the evaluation plan and piloting the evaluation tools. CSTE is open to proposals from individual consultants and firms willing to provide this service.  

Education/Experience Requirements: Applicants should be non-federal public health professionals (including, but not limited to, those from institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, communication firms, public health agencies, or private consultants). Individual and organizational applications are eligible.  Applicants who are employed or work on behalf of state, local, tribal or territorial (STLT) health agencies are required to submit an outside activity form or secondary employment request (actual form may vary) that has been approved by their employer with their application. Successful candidates will have experience with developing evaluation plans and corresponding evaluation tools and knowledge of public health practice at state and local health departments. Ideal candidates will also have experience with workforce development and competency-based training.
