Job Opening: Research Assistant, Voinovich School of Leadership

THIS POSITION IS FUNDED VIA MULTIPLE GRANTS. EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING FROM GRANT PROVIDERS. Individual sought to support the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service’s applied research PEER team. This entry level position will focus on assisting and supporting staff and project teams with various project related activities at the Voinovich School. 

Candidate must be highly self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively within teams and independently. The candidate will function as a support member of a multidisciplinary team specializing in projects incorporating varied research methods. The position will be located in Athens, Ohio. 

  • The ideal candidate should have the ability to draw information from multiple sources to identify potential solutions for identified issues; 
  • ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives to accomplish project goals; 
  • ability to establish and maintain collegial relationships with senior management, co-workers, project sponsors; 
  • ability to multitask as well as appropriately prioritize tasks; 
  • ability to accurately communicate verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences including project sponsors, stakeholders and other professionals.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree OR a minimum of 2 years relevant prior experience (can include internships) and must be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program in related field.

Basic computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail and Internet. 

The position may work nights and weekends at times in order to meet project and reporting deadlines.

Access to reliable home internet to support remote work when needed. 

Driver’s license and ability to travel. 

Ability to work evenings and weekends if necessary to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

All of the above plus a master’s degree and/or prior experience in working with the social services or nonprofit sector. 

Experience with applied research in statistical package such as SPSS also preferred.
