Data Management Officer

Status: Full-time, exempt

Department: Development

Reports to: VP of Advancement / Director of Development

Location: Flying Horse Farms, Mt. Gilead, Ohio

Overview: The Data Management Officer is responsible for advancing the mission of Flying Horse Farms through strategic and successful development related activities. He/she is responsible for the management of the database to ensure overall record integrity, high performance and functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as chief strategist to develop data management practices to assist team in achieving goals.
  • Provide timely and accurate lists and reports for forecasting, analysis and prospecting.
  • Oversee management of detailed and accurate donor records.
  • Act as coach and/or provide professional development opportunities to team members to ensure RE is used appropriately and being leveraged.
  • Oversee coding and response analysis for annual fund appeals.
  • Oversee on-line giving program and take the lead in leveraging technology for increased revenue and broader reach.
  • Oversee gift acknowledgement process and accuracy.
  • Serve as finance’s point person for audit and monthly reconciliations.
  • Develop and produce turn-key reporting for development committee, finance and board meetings.

Develop RE manual and oversee implementation of RE policies and procedures including standardized gift coding. Oversee pulling of mailing lists and donor recognition lists as needed. Perform system audits and oversee long-term cleanup projects. Act as primary liaison with Blackbaud. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

N/A. However, will interface with, and oversee the output of the Data Management Coordinator

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; minimum 5 years of development / database experience. Experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Very high level of attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of fundraising principles and methodologies
  • High level of proficiency in database management, report generation, and prospect research
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Raiser’s Edge software
  • Must exhibit creative problem-solving skills
  • Must be professional, self-motivated and exhibit optimism, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
