Request for Proposals (RFP) for a new
OPEG logo design
Background
The Ohio Program Evaluators’ Group (OPEG), established in 1980, is a professional association of those who conduct program evaluation in and around the State of Ohio. OPEG is a non-profit organization whose mission is to elevate the field of evaluation in Ohio by providing problem-solving ideas and tools to equip practitioners and others to improve the quality of evaluation. OPEG is also a regional affiliate of the American Evaluation Association (www.eval.org), and its members have a range of specialties and evaluation abilities. For more information about OPEG, please go to www.OPEG.org.
Current Logos: OPEG uses two logos, depending on the type of media. The older logo looks like:
The somewhat more current logo looks like:
This logo is on our website. Besides the old-looking typeface, the logo has a white background that requires we use a website design with a white background. We would like to have more freedom to change our website and not be beholden to the logo’s restrictions.
Intended use: We plan to use the new logo primarily on the OPEG website, but we may also use it for letterhead and other purposes such as public communications, sponsorships, events, and so forth.
Submittal: Each submittal should include the following:
- Samples of logos you have designed
- A description of the process you would go through to create a logo for OPEG
- A 1-page summary of your design experience
- Contact information for two (2) references to whom you have provided similar design services
- A quote for the cost to design and complete the work as described in the Specifications section, below. Project costs cannot exceed $2,000.
OPEG reserves the right to reject any responses submitted and to decline to proceed with this process at any time without liability to OPEG. This Request for Proposal is not to be construed as a contract or commitment of any kind.
Specifications: The following describes requirements that the chosen designer will develop and deliver:
- Provide logo in black and white as well as four-color versions
- Provide PMS color numbers for all versions
- Provide logo in electronic high-resolution format
- Provide logo in downloadable resolution versions as requested
- Work with OPEG to establish other considerations
Consideration Process:
- All submittals will be considered in accordance with the following factors:
- Quality and style of sample logos submitted
- Past experience in logo design
- Compatibility of philosophy for design process
- Customer references
- Ability of designer to meet project schedule timeline
Project Schedule Timeline:

OPEG recognizes that this is a tight timeline and it involves deadlines around major holidays. We are trying to be able select the final design at our Board Retreat on January 18; moreover, we would like to include the new logo on our marketing for our spring conference as early as possible.
Please note that on the Friday, December 20 deadline, the OPEG Logo Committee expects several logo designs from which to choose rather than iterations of the same logo.
How to Submit Proposals:
Proposals must be submitted by email to OPEG’s secretary, Rachel Holbert (rrholbert@yahoo.com). All proposals should include the following materials:
- An email message titled “OPEG logo design proposal” that includes the designer’s contact information (name, address, email address, phone number)
- The items described above, attached
- Logo samples should be attached to the email message
The deadline for submittals is 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Late submittals will not be accepted or considered.
Information provided in response to the Request for Proposal for the logo design will not be returned.
Any questions should also be directed to Rachel Holbert at rrholbert@yahoo.com.
Release of Ownership:
The chosen designer will release all rights of ownership of the logo to OPEG upon selection and completion of the logo. The chosen designer will waive all rights to the use of the logo and will not use the logo or its likeness for any other purpose except inclusion in their professional portfolio.
